Railroad Brewing Company, located in Avon, Ohio is celebrating their one year anniversary on Saturday, March 10th. The first 100 people through the door at 11am will receive a special commemorative glass. There will also be live music, beer releases and food all day long.
Railroad Brewing Company was founded by Tom Wagner and Jerome Moore. In 2015 they brought Dave Lengyel on board. A year later, on March 10th, 2016, Railroad was formed, with the taproom coming a year later. Nestled on Center Rd. in what used to be a barn, Railroad quickly became a hot spot for those in town wanting quality beer right in their back yard. Their flagship brew, Red Caboose is described as having a “strong malt backbone”, and their Tender Blonde features a “light and refreshing, mild hop taste”. Their Crooked Rail maple brown ale is brewed with locally sourced maple syrup.
The vibe is very family friendly. It has space for 71 people, with games for kids to play while their parents rest, have a drink, and sit down for a bite to eat at a table shaped like the state of Ohio. You can even bring your pup along to enjoy a pint or two with you.
Lorain County has grown so much since I left for college back in 2007. It’s nice to see breweries like Railroad popping up, giving residents a place to go where their hard-earned money goes back into the county they call home. Railroad, like many craft breweries, embraces their community by hosting events to support local musicians, raising money for animal shelters, and featuring local food truck Jackpot Chicken.
Congratulations to the Railroad Brewing crew on their anniversary, and be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, March 10th so you can celebrate with them!
